Help with buying a new paver

I have been in the market for a new paver since November. I have bought used pavers over the years and have not gotten 1 that I have not had a problem with yet so I was going to try and buy a new one. Does any one have experience with a Gehl 1648. I was thinking of a gravity fed because I have found through research they are less expensive to maintain and less money to buy new. I have always had self propelled but I only plan on paving driveways and small parking lots. I also like the mauldin 1550 but wouldn’t be able to afford a new 1550. It seems like a salesman will tell you anything you want to hear. I have been on the phone alot with Lamar King at King Machinery and I can buy a used 1550 for $8,000 more than a brand new Gehl so I would appreciate some feed back. Thanks for your time. Chad Buck (Buck Bros Asphalt)

I had a sales guy from a company in GA stop in to tell me about their capability to repair/replace piston pumps on Blaw Knox/Ingersoll pavers. Anyone else seen this guy or heard of Hydraulic.net? I was just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this company.

As a manufacturer, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our equipment. Most of our trailer modifications and enhancements come from suggestions of the people actually using the equipment. I encourage you to watch the attached video of our new paver equipment trailer and please comment. (good or bad) We can not produce what you need if you don’t tell us. This equipment trailer from BWS / EZ-2-LOAD is designed for the paving industry. It has a true 5.9 degree load angle with 10’ bi-fold air actuated ramps and a full width air actuated gooseneck access ramp.
A New way of accurately measure parking lots, roadway & driveways

I have discovered a new product. It is called Fast Measure. No more hanging out the window of your truck with your old measuring wheel. Developed by a paving professional for the paving industry, it can also be mounted on crack routers & concrete saws for accurate job accounting. It can save you hours on your estimating and job layout. According to Ernie Kaplin the inventor it is more accurate than a standard walking wheel or your vehicle odometer (odometers can be off by more than 1/10th of a mile).

Website is: http://www.fast-measure.com/_pages/pr_fast_measure.htm

Omni 3 Screed—at 26 feet wide

I have been paving for 7 years now. And I have pretty much used just the Omni 3 screed. Some Omni 7 and wedgelock.

Last summer we paved 26 feet wide with the Omni 3. I think it was a complete fail my boss argued saying since we had 15 feet of bolt on extensions that it wouldn’t sag as much. I was continually fighting with it. pofilograph was horroible.

My question is has any one else tried to pave at that width on the Omni 3 and had success?
